Garmin today announced to have signed an agreement to acquire Tri-Tronics Inc., a designer and manufacturer of remote dog training collars.
Garmin entered the sporting dog market in 2007 with Astro, its GPS dog tracking system, which pinpoints the GPS location of a dog for hunters. More recently Garmin launched its GTU 10 GPS locator that can be added to a dog collar.
“By integrating the two companies, we believe we can leverage our areas of expertise into products that can greatly enhance the way that dog owners interact with their canine companions. This acquisition should demonstrate without a doubt that Garmin is fully committed to developing innovative products for the canine market.”
Tri-Tronics is a privately held company that was created 40 years ago. It is headquarters in Tucson, Arizona.
